African Burial Ground – The Bronx

The third largest park in New York City used to be a Plantation that slaves worked on; however, today, it is a playground and home 0f cricket players and a golf course. On my tour of VanCortlandt Park, in the Bronx, I uncovered a hidden secret – that there are slaves possibly still buried there.

Fascinating information and discovery. The Parks department definitely needs to do a better job highlighting our ancestors and marking their burial sites.

Yes they do and they’re working on it. Hopefully this month they will approve putting up signage so that more people will know about the history.
